Hi Zoners, I recently returned from ACVIM Forum in Philadelphia and I must say I had a great time. ACVIM is celebrating 40 years of the Forum and I have never been so excited for an in person learning experience. Philly I will say grew on me and after a few days, I got into the groove. I had limited time to engage in any tourist type activities but realized during my time there the benefits of attending conferences. Here are my top reasons to attend conferences
CE sessions: Conferences are great places for learning and obtaining your CE and learn. The speakers are top notch and depending on the conference, you will find a topic that would peak your interest. CE requirements: For most credentialed technicians renewals of your credentials usually mean completing a set number of CE credits. Attending a major conference can get you all the CE you need for recertifying. A three to four day conference can offer over 40 hours of CE.
Industry updates: Many of these conferences will feature current and updated research for your enjoyment. Conferences are the go to events for abstracts, updates, and current industry buzz Networking: Great minds think alike.... Or don't...but place them all in a single location and watch the magic happen. The people you meet and connect with oftentimes become life long connections throughout your career. They can be great resources for information, pillars of support and someone to pitch thoughts and ideas Get reinvigorated: As in my case, attending any conference can revive your love in what you do. They can inspire new ideas and remind us why we do what we do. After attending ACVIM, I am ready to learn and do more. When you see your fellow credentialed technicians and members industry doing what the love and smiling through it all it makes you want to do the same. So if you are contemplating going to a conference. DO IT. Unsure of which one to attend. Check out our CE conference list (https://www.vettechcezone.com/blank-page-1)
